One of the reasons why so few people, in this society, are healthy, is because physical health is all they think about. We think that if we eat the right foods and get the right amount of exercise, we'll be perfectly healthy. This might be the case with our physical body, but health includes way more than that. We have a complicated body that is more than just a body, and all the rest is needed for good health, also. It isn't true that people's feelings are not up to them, because they are. Your mental and emotional health can be made better as long as you are willing to do small changes. Some of the things you can do are the following things.

Only speak things that are a blessing. As annoying as this might sound, you still should do it. The truth, however, is that spending some time taking stock of all of the positive things in your life can be a major mood elevator. Unless you are homeless, penniless, have no family, and are full of disease, you can find things to be thankful for. You can even take stock of the positive abstract things in your life as well, like you enjoy the way it feels when someone you love looks at you, etc. Write down as many things as you can that are positive, until you think positive thoughts and you will feel better.You might think this is crazy, but it does work.

Help others by doing something nice for them. The more depressed people become, the less likely they will have enough energy to even help themselves. The best way to make yourself feel good is to do something nice for a stranger, and it will raise your energy, also. Your emotional and mental health is greatly effected by being kind. You might not believe this, but the best way to uplift your feeling is to simply be nice to others, even something as simple as letting someone go in line ahead of you.

Do not hide yourself away. When you are not feeling well, because you are lonely and depressed, you need someone in your life, who you can reach out to. When you are going through a problem, you don't necessarily need someone who can give you advice, but what you need is someone who can listen and understand what you are going through. Even voicing your feelings can help you work through them. So don't hide yourself away when you start to feel down or like you need some help. There is plenty of help from the people who love you. Don't let your pride get in the way of your emotional or mental health.

There are all sorts of things that you can do to help yourself feel better both emotionally and mentally. Obviously you should follow the instructions offered to you by a mental health professional first, but these tips can be a good start to help you get back on the road to being healthy inside and out.
